About

Dagny Steindorsdottir is a fashion designer from Iceland. She graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2017 with a BFA in Fashion Design and Construction.

From a very young age Dagny has been fascinated by the creative process. Going with her father to his company’s building sites, she would be captivated by the development surrounding her. On each new visit she would be amazed by the progress; up would go walls and stairwells and gone would be the workmen's tools. This, along with making Barbie clothes with her grandmother, was what fueled Dagny’s passion for creativity and the process of making something from scratch.

Her desire to see the world brought her to San Francisco and the Academy. Through her talent, dedication and countless hours of hard work she was chosen to show her senior collection to the industry as part of the university's prestigious undergraduate fashion show. Dagny's final honor as a student was to be selected to exhibit her design work as part of the CFDA´s Fashion Future Graduate Showcase in New York City this May.

Art has been a part of my life in some shape or form ever since I can remember. When I was young I would sit and draw anything in view, especially people. Drawing people turned into drawing clothes, and drawing clothes turned into making them. My love for seeing a project come to life from an idea is what has motivated me throughout my education at the Academy of Art University.

During my four years as a fashion design student I have made it my goal to do my very best on every project I was given, and to challenge myself with each new opportunity that arose. Through dedication and hard work I have finally achieved a goal that I previously believed to be unattainable to me: a spot in the Academy of Art’s Graduation Fashion Show.

Now graduated, I want to take all of the valuable skills and abilities that I have learned while at the Academy of Art and apply them as a member of an innovative design team, one who's design aesthetic and values mesh with my own. I wish to design for the woman who isn't afraid to push stylistic boundaries and appreciates modern clothing that is both comfortable and functional.
